Can MassArt students register for this course through Colleague/SelfService?
In the fall and spring you may register this way, but in the summer you may need to register through Continuing Education.  Once registered via Continuing Education your enrollment will show up in Colleague/SelfService.

They say the course is full!!  What can I do?
Please register early as the course fills quickly.  If you have problems getting registered please contact me: [email protected]

Does this course fulfill art history requirements at MassArt?
Yes! It is a regular 200-level art history course.

Do I need a background in sound or music?
No, a background in sound or music is NOT required.

Will I have the opportunity to create my own sound art in this course?
No, this is an art history course.  If you are interested in a studio course in sound for credit, contact Eric Freeman or Antony Flackett in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM).

Will I be required to write any papers for this course?
Yes, you will write two papers -- a research paper which will be due at the mid-term and an essay that is due at the end of the course.   I will assign preliminary assignments on the research paper to help you get started on it, along with timely feedback to keep you on the right track.  I also provide clear guidelines on papers to help you know how to write them.

Can I use my financial aid for the summer version of this course?
MassArt BFA students using financial aid should contact MassArt’s Financial Aid office first, and then email [email protected] and they will send you a form for special registration for MassArt students using financial aid.

For non-MassArt students:
Can I transfer the credits I receive to another college or university?
Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a highly reputable fully-accredited college.  You should be able to easily transfer your credits to other universities in the U.S. and Canada.  Please check with your advisor at your college to make sure the credits will be accepted and to see how they will be applied to your degree.
