NEW IDEAS IN MUSIC AND SOUND
"New Ideas in Music and Sound" was a concert series curated and directed by Judy Dunaway that ran from 2015-2017 in Boston Massachusetts at the Parker Hill Public Library. It featured cutting-edge original music and sound art from students enrolled in colleges in the Fenway/Mission Hill neighborhoods in Boston, Massachusetts. The outstanding student participants came from Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Northeastern University and Massachusetts College of Art and Design and other local colleges. The goals of the series were 1) to provide an off-campus venue for innovative student composers, musicians and sound artists from colleges in the Mission Hill/Fenway neighborhoods, 2) to present original student work to the Mission Hill/Fenway community and 3) to provide a way that students could network with each other outside their respective colleges and universities. The concerts were free and open to the public. Each event featured at least four student artists. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the series was funded by a grant from the Mission Hill Fenway Neighborhood Trust (via fiscal agent Non-Event).
