Judy Dunaway Chamber EnsembleStripes Too (2017)
“Chamber Ensemble” is a participatory sculptural sonic environment utilizing round ready-made latex balloons of various sizes.  The installation consists of three interconnected sonic sculptures: ReBa, Balloon Release and Stripes Too.   ReBa is an interactive artificial intelligence score in the persona of a giant balloon.  She guides visitors to make sounds with typical toy balloons, to which she responds and reacts.  Occasional interlopers send a helium balloon into Balloon Release's deadly tunnel, which transforms into a quadraphonic immersive experience.  All the while, Stripes Too, a large illuminated translucent balloon (see photo on right ) provides abstract 3-dimensional commentary on the sounds and activities.  CLICK ON HIGHLIGHTED TITLES ABOVE TO GO TO WEBPAGE ABOUT EACH PIECE.  The premiere exhibition was part of Judy Dunaway's 2017 Workspace-in-Residency at Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center.  It was subsequently shown at Errant Sound Galerie in Berlin in November 2022.  All works created by Judy with Max/MSP/Jitter.  Artistic advisors/assistants at Harvestworks: Ethan Hamby and Madeline Seely
